The Malta Doula Association is a non-profit membership organisation that promotes, develops and supports doulas and the doula profession. The primary mission of the doula profession is to positively impact the childbearing experience for women and their families.
Fundamental to doula care is the understanding that continuous informational, physical and emotional support, as well as reassurance during labor and birth improves and enhances maternal satisfaction, and promotes positive & empowering birth experiences and outcomes.
Doula support at the start of a new life, can highly impact a long-term positive parenting journey.
We believe all childbearing women have the right to receive information, care and support in their pregnancy, birth and postpartum period.
Our Mission
The primary mission of the doula profession, and therefore the Malta Doula Association, is to positively impact the childbearing, birth and postpartum experience for women and their families.
Our Vision
The Malta Doula Association envisions a broader understanding and acceptance of the doula profession on the Maltese islands. We strive to create a welcoming community in which all childbearing women shall have access to doula care. Doulas will be acknowledged as members of the maternity care team where their role is to help ensure that the emotional, educational and physical comfort needs of childbearing women are met.
